False car attack story by Stella Oduah to Justify her reason for purchasing armored cars

How do you describe a situation that men of the Nigerian police saw a metal object where the Aviation Minister Stella Oduah claimed her car was shot at three times, but they don't think what they saw is a bullet?

That is the ridiculous state of the alleged attack on one of Stella Oduah's cars in Abuja last weekend. It's funny that Mr Joe Obi, the man who confirmed the purchase of N255m bullet proof cars for Stella, but was asked to keep quiet, is also the one saying the attack is true.
You said you heard that the minister’s car was shot at, right? Of course that is true and it happened last Friday at about 10.30pm."
But the Police is not moved. The FCT Police Public Relations Officer, Altienne Daniel, said...
“The incident was reported to us on Monday at exactly 5.45pm and we are subjecting the metallic object we recovered from the car to ballistic test. I can’t say whether the object is a bullet or not. So I can’t give you any information on it for now.”
There has been several efforts to change President Gooodluck Jonathan's mind and stop him from taking action on the report of the Committee he set up to investigate Stella Oduah. I’m sure the odds are against her  for her to pull such a stunt.

N5,000 Notes to be Introduced By CBN March 2014

Last weekend The Deputy Governor of CBN, Tunde Lemo disclosed that it would soon conclude plans to produce and roll out N5000 bills, a project which was initially abandoned due to its rejection by Nigerians.
He disclosed this while speaking to journalists at the NIBSS 20th anniversary conference held in Lagos, said in one to two months from now, the N5000 notes would be in circulation.

According to The Sun he said: "We only stopped the project due to the low level of understanding of its benefits among Nigerians, but we now plan to educate the people about the importance of the notes to our economy before we eventually launch it".

He added that Nigerians would soon see the notes in circulation and start to enjoy its benefits.
Speaking on the cashless initiative, Lemo noted that it has been a great success within the experimented states, stressing that the apex bank has deployed 120,000 Point of Sale (PoS) Machines across the states where cashless policy is being experimented in Nigeria.

River with Mysterious Healing Powers Appears in Enugu State!!!

How possible can this actually be? Well According to reports, it all started on the 11th day of November 2013 when a Fulani herdsman ran to the community and announced how water covered the place just few minutes after he passed.
“He told us that he passed that place with his herd of cattle and soon after, heard a strange noise; when he turned back, he discovered that a big stream has appeared at the same place he just passed with his cattle. At that point, he ran to Garki and informed his relatives, who also came there and discovered that the water had healing power. From that point, the news spread to the community”, a source disclosed.

The River already named 'Orimiri Jordan' (River Jordan) has become a Pilgrimage Centre, playing host to people from all parts of Nigeria.
Speaking on the origin of the river, the traditional ruler of Nachi community, His Royal Highness, Igwe F.O Onuigbo, Obi II of Nachi, said that at his palace that the Mystery River was older than him.
He said “I used to pass through that area to attend school at Inyi-Achi in Oji River, in the early 40s. In those days, there is no water there, the only thing you see there is white sand. But once you get there and you are thirsty, all you need to do is to scratch the surface of the land and ask if for water, water will full your hand immediately if you are an upright person, but if you are evil, no water will come out. That has been the situation”.
Another octogenarian, Chief Festus Ude said “later, we noticed that after some years, the water will form a stream there and would disappear in few weeks. If such happens, we will be fetching water there. However, women who are menstruating and evil people don’t go there. We never heard about healing power of the River until this recent appearance of the River.
“The last time it appeared was in 1992, and at that time, it just formed a small stream, which later disappeared. It has never been as large as this. This is all I know, we have never known about its healing power, this is the first time we are hearing about healing, I don’t know whether it is true, we equally heard it like you”.

According to a motorcyclist, “I have a vulcanizing shop at the Nachi Market, but when this new business came, I had to close the shop temporarily so that I can also make money here. I hardly make N1000 a day there in my shop, but since I joined this Okada transport to the Enugu Jordan River, I make no less than N10, 000 every day. One of my friends called my attention to it, and I will forever be grateful to him”.

The okada operators charge their passengers fares ranging from N500 to N1000 depending on their bargaining power.

Even photographers take shots, get the pictures ready immediately at the cost of N200 depending on the number of exposures.
One of the photographers said that they make between N20, 000 to N40, 000 every day.

People of all ages, with all forms of ailments are being assisted by their relatives and friends to dip themselves into the River.
A can seller at the entrance said “my house help was suffering from enlarged scrotum; we were trying to raise money to go to University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital before a friend told me about this place. We brought the boy here and by the time we went home, he was fully healed, that was how I started selling empty cans here”

“I heard about people who had difficulties in walking but they got healed after visiting this place; I also heard of people who regained their sight after visiting this place; I am just coming out from the River and I believed that I am free of any form of sickness and challenges”.

Lagos State Governor Fashola wants the Nigerian Stock exchange renamed after Lagos

Lagos State Governor Babatunde Fashola spoke with journalists at the10th Lagos Executive/Legislative parley, where he demanded a review of the decree which changed the Lagos Stock Exchange to Nigerian Stock Exchange in 1977, noting that across the world, stock exchanges are named after their host cities and not the country. So he demanded that a similar trend should be followed in Nigeria.

Governor Fashola said;

“I think the time has come for us to begin to look at the legislation that was passed during the military administration that is decrees and acts. I think that was when the Lagos Stock Exchange became the Nigerian Stock Exchange, in unification for the country. Perhaps there is the need for us to go back to what is best global practice because we have the Johannesburg, Paris, New York and we don’t have the American Stock Exchange or German Stock Exchange while there is a Frankfurt Stock Exchange and so on. There is nothing like the British Stock Exchange, but the London Stock Exchange” he adds, noting that

Nokia releases Refocus app for its new and existing Lumia PureView devices

Nokia announced the Lumia 1520 with 20 megapixel PureView technology last month and showed off their new Refocus application. Existing PureView owners, including the Lumia 1020, 920, 925, and 928, can now download and install Nokia Refocus and enjoy multiple levels of focus in a single image.
The Nokia Refocus app performs similarly to the Lytro camera. The application allows you to shoot between two and eight photos, dependent on available focal planes in view of your shot.
To get the most out of the Refocus software, you need to focus on the object closest to you and move your phone close to that object until it is clear. Keep a steady hand and then you will have an image you can tap and refocus on to share with others.
The Refocus app also includes Nokia's Color Pop utility from other Nokia camera apps so you can color in sections of your photo while making the rest black and white.
You can share your captured image to SkyDrive with a unique page at refocus.nokia.com being created. This site hosts the image where people can interact and change focus themselves, right from their web browser. Try it out on the Nokia website, its pretty slick.

Nokia is definitely setting the bar for smartphone photography. I look forward to checking out a Lumia 1520 with the latest in Nokia technology soon.

HTC One Max review

                                                                  Hardware

The HTC One Max is the biggest in the family of the One and One Mini, it is wide at 82.5 mm, compared to the One at 68 mm and One Mini at 63.2 mm. It is also very tall at 164.5 mm, compared to the One at 137 mm and One Mini at 132 mm. The 5.9 inch 1080p LCD display looks great with its 373 ppi.

HTC knows how to make high quality displays and it’s nice to see such a beautiful screen on the HTC One Max. The side bezel is similar in size to the HTC One, but seems smaller because some is taken up by the white plastic frame.
The One Max has front facing stereo speakers, like the others in the One line, and sound even louder than HTC One. You won't find Beats Audio branding or utilities in the settings on the One Max.
HTC also moved the power button from the top down to the right side below the volume button. The IR port and headphone jack are found on the top. The micro USB port is on the bottom. The left side houses the latch for the back cover.
Speaking of the back cover, it takes up nearly all of the back and covers the micro SD card slot and SIM card slot. Unfortunately, the back cover takes away from the fit and finish of the One Max. Even when fully closed and latched, the upper right corner protrudes out from the back and gives the One Max a cheap feel. This is the same problem I saw during the HTC meeting last month so I don't think it is a rare manufacturing issue.
You will find the fingerprint scanner on the back, positioned in the center below the camera lens. Unlike the iPhone 5s where you just rest your finger on the home button, you have to swipe your finger down the scanner to activate the functions. You can program up to three fingers that can be used to unlock your phone and also launch an application at the same time. You first need to turn on your phone and then use the fingerprint scanner.
The scanner is not used for purchases or other applications, so it has very limited functionality, the HTC included the same camera as found on the HTC One and it takes decent shots in low light conditions and outside. The camera lacks depth and detail, but works well for many situations. I do like the dual camera support and other software improvements so now we just need to see improvements to the camera lens.

                                                                  Software

The HTC One Max launches with Android 4.3 and Sense 5.5 with an Android 4.4 update likely to come in early 2014. The Sense 5.5 update significantly improves BlinkFeed with Google+ support, offline article viewing, and more. You will also find an updated Gallery that includes improvements in Highlight Videos with better content control, more themes, and ability to add your own music to a Highlight Video.
Like on the HTC One and One Mini, the One Max comes loaded with some enhanced HTC apps. These include email, calendar, Car mode, and TV remote control application.
HTC also includes an application called Scribble that is designed to allow you to draw and sketch on your HTC One Max. You can choose from one of 15 templates and then use the utility, similar in functionality to the HTC Notes program, to create custom notes. You can then share the note or print it from the One Max.

                                                            Usage and experiences

The HTC One performs like the HTC One, thanks to the same Snapdragon 600 quad-core processor and 2GB of RAM. The camera takes the same quality photos, except for the lack of optical image stabilization, and lacks detail in photos. The camera works great for low light photos and in many other situations, but other smartphone cameras have gotten much better since the One was released and I was hoping to see HTC launch an ultra-pixel camera with 8 megapixels.
The HTC One Max is HUGE and makes the Note 3, HTC One, and Moto X look small. The Apple iPhone 5s looks tiny when placed side-by-side or on top of the HTC One Max. I understand HTC wants to compete with Samsung, LG, and Nokia when it comes to large phones, but the rest of those large phones have better internal specs or unique features (S Pen for example). The One Max is just a bigger One and One Mini with no real need for such a monstrous display in a phone.
It is definitely a device for the media consumer, but if that is your main usage for such a device then go get a better and much less expensive Nexus 7 tablet or maybe even an iPad mini.
Pros and Cons
To summarize my experiences with the HTC One Max, here are my pros and cons.
Pros
·         Fantastic 5.9 inch 1080p display
·         Long battery life thanks to 3,300 mAh battery
·         microSD expansion slot
·         High quality front facing stereo speakers
·         Power button on right side
Cons
·         Long, wide, and heavy phone
·         Poorly designed back cover
·         Limited use fingerprint scanner

                                                               The competition

Other large screen phones, greater than 5 inches, include the Galaxy Note 3, upcoming Nokia Lumia 1520, Sony Xperia Z Ultra, LG G2, and maybe even the Google Nexus 5. All of these phones offer something better than the HTC One Max and all are smaller too.
Specifications
·         Android 4.3 OS and Sense 5.5
·         Snapdragon 600 quad-core 1.7 GHz processor
·         2GB RAM and 32GB flash storage (8 GB consumed by Other, likely HTC Sense bits)
·         microSD card expansion capability
·         5.9 inch 1080p resolution display at 373 ppi
·         Ultrapixel rear camera
·         2.1 megapixel front facing camera
·         Fingerprint sensor on the back
·         3,300 mAh non-removable battery
·         802.11 a/ac/b/g/n WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0 with aptX
·         Dimensions of 164.5 x 82.5 x 10.29 mm and 217 grams (7.65 ounces)
The HTC One Max is huge and nearly doubles the weight of the iPhone 5s. It really looks ridiculous in your hand and unfortunately the build quality stinks thanks to the back cover that doesn't even latch securely in place.
The specifications were great for early 2013, but to compete today HTC needs to improve what is provided in the HTC One Max.

                                                                   Conclusion

From my point of view if HTC would have had the people working on the HTC One Max focused on the HTC One II or HTC Two, whatever the successor to the HTC One will be called, in time to launch that device before the holiday season. To make the One Max a killer device, it needed to launch with a Snapdragon 800, 3GB RAM, sealed back like the HTC One with a microSD card slot placed nicely in the side, OIS, and a larger ultra pixel camera. If these were design elements of the HTC One Max, then I would seriously consider picking one up for the media experience.
